IT WAS a case of trains, boats...but not quite planes for one Worcester News columnist as he ditched the car in favour of more novel forms of transport.
BBC Hereford and Worcester presenter Dave Bradley decided to take up the challenge as a result of the recent spiralling petrol prices, which has seen it shoot to more than £1 a litre.
And the 57-year-old, from Hanley Castle, teamed up with the Severn Area Rescue Association to make the nine-mile trip yesterday morning to the BBC's Hylton Road base by boat along the River Severn.
He said: "It was cold but really enjoyable and marvellous to be out on the river at that time of day."
The lively presenter kicked off the week by walking the distance, before taking to his bike on Tuesday. Wednesday saw him catching the bus while he was back on his bike on Thursday, cycling to Great Malvern Station to catch the train.
He said: "It's been all right. I've thoroughly enjoyed coming in, in a different way really although it does take longer.
"I really enjoyed walking on the Monday because it was a lovely crisp morning. It's nice if you've got two-and-a-quarter hours to spare each morning but I don't really like getting up at 6am!"
As for his plans for next week, Dave said it might not yet be a return to the car...
He added: "I quite enjoyed biking in so, come Monday, I may be back on it - depending on the weather of course!"
