FOR budding shot-stoppers, the Goalkeeping Academy are running courses for the goalkeepers of the future.
Allan Hawkins, who runs the coaching centre, said: "Whilst outfield coaching is not difficult to find, the specialist position of goalkeeping is somewhat different. We look to develop players from age seven through to semi-professional standard."
The skills needed to be a successful goalkeeper cover a wide aspect inlcuding which developing outstanding handling skills, positioning, mental strength, agility, communication and above all, an enjoyment for keeping the ball out of the net.
The latest course starts on Monday (September 19), at Ross Road, Ledbury, in conjunction with Football 4 All, coaching for young outfield players with Jamie Edwards, currently a Welsh Premier player with Cwmbran.
Further goalkeeping courses are scheduled for the end of September and October.
