THE adventures of pioneering plant hunters who scoured the globe for exotic and unusual species will be relived on Sunday.
Croome Landscape Park, near Pershore, will host a guided walk and talk recounting the incredible work of the 18th Century plant seekers and the species they discovered.
Lord Coventry, who owned Croome at the time, commissioned plant hunters to discover rare plants for his parkland.
A letter from one of Lord Coventry's plant hunters in St Petersburg in 1771 states: "It's dangerous in these woods to collect plants, there being large bears and wolves."
As part of a 10-year restoration programme, the National Trust is using 18th Century documents as a guide for re-planting species at the park to return it to its original design.
Property manager Michael Smith, who lead the walk, said: "The plant hunters walk will be a great opportunity to look at the unusual and exotic plants introduced to Croome."
Visitors should meet in the car park at 11am. The walk will last about an hour-and-a-half. For more details call 01905 371006.
