STUART Watkiss will be ready in case Forest Green Rovers shut up shop in their Nationwide Conference reunion at Aggborough tomorrow.

The Kidderminster Harriers boss has built up the next four games over two weeks as a "big fortnight" when his men could really prove their promotion aspirations.

Halifax Town at home on Tuesday is followed by a long weekend trip to Gravesend & Northfleet and a mid-week slog to Crawley Town.

Watkiss believes tomorrow's Gloucestershire visitors, who went full-time in the summer, are now a tougher proposition after Northwich Victoria's problems saved them from relegation last season.

He said: "They will be looking to kick on from last year after getting a reprieve from relegation. This season they probably haven't got the amount of points that their performances have warranted.

"They are going to be very organised which they showed when they went down to Exeter and got a point earlier this season.

"Forest Green normally play a 4-4-2 but I believe they have used a 4-5-1 away from home. We will prepare for both systems and be ready but it's more about us and what we can do.

"We have struggled in a couple of home matches where we've been expected to make the running. We're looking to extend our unbeaten run but improve on our last home performance against Canvey Island.

"We've conceded equalisers in the last minute against Scarborough and Grays, and missed a penalty in the draw with Southport.

"Those six points would have put us top of the league. But there's always a lot of what ifs and we have to make sure they are not costly at the end of the season.

"I'll be happy if we can build on the start we've had in the next four games. But a bad two weeks now could undo a lot of that good work."

Watkiss is hoping for a clean bill of health, apart from long-term absentee Chris McHale, but he admitted veteran midfield maestro Martin O'Connor may have to be rested at times over the busy spell.

He continued: "Martin still has a sore knee and we may have to be sensible with four games in two weeks by using him sparingly."

Midfielders Terry Fleming (hamstring), Michael Blackwood (hamstring) and Simon Heslop (ankle) should all be available.

Loan signing Heslop will return to training today with Harriers after several successful sessions at his own club Barnsley.

But injury rules out Kidderminster old boys Ian Foster (knee) and Matt Gadsby (toe) for Rovers though Abdou Sall, Jon Beswetherick and goalkeeper Ryan Clarke are all in the squad.

Watkiss admitted: "It always adds a little bit of spice to the occasion and though a couple of our former players may not be playing, there are others who may well be."

And the Harriers boss has backed goalkeeper John Danby to prosper after he dropped a corner to give leaders Grays a late equaliser in last weekend's 2-2 away draw.

He added: "People have to realise young goalkeepers will make mistakes. But he's shown me he's got a good attitude and is willing to learn.

"Grays was probably his best game for a long time until his error from possibly the easiest cross of the afternoon. Now John's just got to stand up, be counted and be a man. I'm sure he will."

Striker Iyseden Christie scored both goals at Grays to make it three in two matches and leave Harriers unbeaten in five games.
