I WAS disappointed to hear that the chief executive has joined the ranks of the of Politically Correct Brigade in the matter of the main entrance to the Guildhall.
The statement that disabled persons would consider it offensive in some way to be asked to use an entrance specially designed to assist them is an insult to their intelligence.
There are many buildings that have been adapted to assist the disabled such as the library, Lloyds Bank and so onwhich I am sure have not attracted any such comments.
The imposing entrance to this attractive and historic buiding should be left as it is for all to enjoy. The council employees responsible for this idiocy should be sent on a crash course in basic commonsense - although in this day and age, neither central or local government can be expected to comprehend this simple principle. I applaud the comments by the Mayor regarding this matter.
