A CHARITY golf day to raise funds for muscular dystrophy sufferers has proved a swinging success.
The event, held at Ombersley Golf Club, on Tuesday, raised money for research into the muscle wasting disease.
The day ended with a dinner for competitors and presentation of The Murray Field Muscular Dystrophy Golfing Trophy.
The winner's award was donated by Mark and Jane Field from Worcester, whose son Murray, aged seven, has been diagnosed with a form of the disease, which only affects boys.
Mrs Field said: "Every week, two boys are diagnosed and most will die in their 20s. Scientists are on the brink of a new treatment which will extend the lives of people like Murray and give us more time to find a cure."
