JOHN Wrench's status as Wyre Forest's top active chess player was confirmed by the latest figures published in the British Chess Federation annual list.
The Kidderminster Chess Club member is quoted with a grade of 160, equivalent to 1880 on the international scale.
His standard of play has increased over many years through hard study, and he has been aided by practice on the internet.
The Kidderminster club currently has 18 members on its books, and the following list is of their gradings, with last season's figures shown in brackets.
