ON Wednesday, the guest speaker at Astley village hall will be M Leech, with a talk entitled "Down the Garden Path". The meeting will start at 7.30pm.
The autumn show will be held in the village hall on Saturday, October 1 at 3pm - application forms and entrance fees, which must be submitted by Monday, September 26, may be obtained from show secretary Robin Saunders on 01299 825728.
As well as the usual vegetables, fruit and flowers, there will be a special handicraft section to include photography, a painting, and a hand-knitted garment, plus children's classes for under-11s and under-14s.
Derek Walker will provide a plant stall to raise funds for the society.
One seed potato was distributed to each participating member at the spring show. The winner will hold the JS Powell trophy for a year.
