GOALKEEPER John Danby has been challenged to bounce back from his Grays Athletic clanger when Kidderminster Harriers host Forest Green Rovers at Aggborough on Saturday.
Boss Stuart Watkiss has thrown a protective arm around the young stopper after he inexplicably palmed a last gasp corner into his own net to deny Harriers victory during the 2-2 draw last weekend.
Danby has had a steady if not spectacular start to the campaign as he bids to get back to the kind of form which attracted a host of Premiership scouts to watch him in action last term.
So far this season, Danby, who turns 22 on Tuesday, has produced a string of super saves, although his judgement and positioning has at times been questionable.
But manager Watkiss believes the setback will only make him stronger.
"Everybody knows it was a mistake by John that cost us, but you have to give him credit for making a couple of great saves earlier," he said.
"It happens unfortunately and when keepers make mistakes, nine times out of 10 they prove fatal.
"The lad knows he's made an error but he has to now show the strength of character to come back from that.
"The first ball that's there to be caught against Forest Green, he's got to come and catch it because it's the right thing to do. I'm sure he will."
