THERE is no mistaking the military bearing of the marchers in your intriguing Flashback photograph (Friday, September 9). Hardly recruits flocking to join the colours. With not a medal or riband to be seen it is unlikely to be post-war ex-servicemen.
But why the tramcar and why are they marching in that direction over Worcester Bridge?
My guess is that they are tramway workers ceremonially escorting the last of the old tramcars on its final journey back to the old tramway depot on the Bullring. That would be around 1928.
JOHN HINTON,
Worcester.
