VALE animal lovers are being asked to respond to an SOS from the RSPCA in Worcestershire.

They are urgently looking for homes for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, gerbils and rats.

The Society's small animals unit is full and they have nowhere to house abandoned pets.

They are currently taking in one abandoned rabbit every two days and urgently need to find homes for them.

Worcs Small Animals Co-ordinator, Emma Rushton, said: "It's really distressing as we have owners ringing up saying they have tried everywhere to get rid of their unwanted pets; we now have no room, what are they meant to do?

"We cannot give them an answer. We cannot take on any more as we simply do not have the runs and hutches to accommodate them.

Anyone who can offer a home to a rabbit is asked to contact Emma on 01905 455117 as soon as possible.

The society has also asked if anyone could donate a spare hutch or run.
