SCHOOL was cool when a band signed to the same record label as U2, Sugababes and McFly dropped in to teach pupils how to play their forthcoming single.
All-girl teen rock outfit, Love Bites, visited Wolverley High, Franche First and Sion Hill Middle on Monday, and treated pupils to a rendition of their debut single, You Broke My Heart.
Rhythm guitarist, Nicki Wood, 17, who is also one of the band's three lead singers, said she hoped the Love Bites School of Rock Tour would inspire other youngsters to form bands.
"This is our first school tour and it's so cool," she said. "It's great to see the kids getting up and doing this and it shows what you can do at 15, 16 or 17."
She added: "We got the band together ourselves, we write our own music and, hopefully, this will encourage other people to do their own stuff. It's cool, so cool."
Fourteen-year-old Wolverley pupil, Jack Roberts, who had a chance to play Nikki's guitar during the workshop, agreed.
Despite not committing to whether he would rush out and buy the single, when it is released next month, he said: "It's been fun. It's a really good idea - inspirational".
Wolverley's head of music, Fred Mallinson, said it had proved a great success.
"We've had signed artists in before but this is the first time the band have got the pupils learning and playing their songs and it's gone really well," he said.
Love Bites also comprises 15-year-old drummer, Hannah Haddon, and her 16-year-old sister, Aimee, on lead guitar, and bass player Dani Graham, 16.
You Broke My Heart is due to be released on Universal Island Records on Monday, October 17.
The band, from Warwickshire, will be touring schools across the country in the coming weeks.
