PARISH Music in the Beckford Group of Churches starts the new series of concerts on Saturday, September 24, in Teddington Church.
Three members of the ensemble Sospiri will perform songs and cantatas by composers ranging from Dowland and Purcell to Handel and Vaughan Williams.
Jenny Hansell, soprano, performs widely in Britain, on the Continent and in Israel as soloist and ensemble singer in Baroque and classical works.
David Hansell, after a distinguished student career at Durham University, went on to specialise as keyboard player and choral conductor. He is continuo player for Sospiri, conductor of two chamber choirs and director of music at Putney High School.
Thomas Hansell, principal oboe of the West Sussex County Youth Orchestra, is reading music at Durham University.
The second concert is planned for Saturday, October 29, in Ashton-under-Hill, with Joseph Middleton, piano, and Shula Oliver, violin. They have played for Parish Music, at the Cheltenham Festival and elsewhere as members of the excellent Lichnowsky Trio and the duo has performed at the Barber Institute in Birmingham, the 2002 Three Choirs Festival, in London and in Cheltenham.
Shula is one of only four British violinists chosen to play with the European Union Youth Orchestra. Joseph has just been made Hodgson Junior Fellow at the Academy.
They will give a recital that includes the Mozart Violin Sonata in A, the Cesar Franck Violin Sonata and Olivier Messiaen's Theme and Variations.
The concerts start at 8pm and concludes with an opportunity to meet the performers and enjoy a drink of wine or fruit juice in the church after the concert. Admission costs £7, students free.
