THE club met in July for a barbecue in the garden of one of the members.
It was a very pleasant evening, if a little cold, and the members enjoyed the company and the gardens.
The August meeting was opened by the chairman who thanked Alison Williams for hosting the barbecue. Members were told about the Alcester Flower and Vegetable Show at Ragley Hall on September 10 and 11.
On September 25 there will be a coach trip to Malvern autumn show, priced £17 members and £18 guests inclusive of entry.
Seats must be booked by September 12.
The August speaker was Elaine Horton who spoke on the subject of bulbs, corms and tubers.
She gardens on unyielding clay near Tewkesbury and says that hers is the only open garden in the yellow book advertised as having weeds!
She had good slides of suitable hardy subjects for including in the borders for interest all round the year.
Members appreciated her down-to-earth style and sound advice and soon snapped up the plants she brought with her.
For membership and other enquiries, call 01789 765105.
All welcome to the meetings.
There is a small charge of £2 for guests with refreshments included. New members welcome.
