Pershore 2, Redditch II 1
PERSHORE continued their pre-season preparations with a scrappy but ultimately successful match.
Opening encounters saw both teams waste good opportunities with a poor final touch or wayward shooting.
However, Graeme Le Dybouy, Andy Taylor and Gareth Rushton were resolute in midfield and it was no surprise when Whiting finally unlocked the Redditch defence.
The visitors drew level ten minutes later when Pershore were caught out of position from the only serious goal threat of the first half.
Only Pershore looked like scoring after the interval with Pete Powell stopping any opposition attacks in central defence.
Rob Curley was unlucky not to add to the scoring from three excellent flicks from short corners - two of which rebounded off a goalpost and one that was disallowed.
Whiting added to his personal tally and secured victory for late in the game, again poaching a goal from short-range following a rebound.
Promotion from Coaching Solutions West Midlands Division Two is Pershore's target this season and the club, which runs three men's teams, would welcome new players of any ability. Call Toby Whiting on 01386 422614 for more details.
Other result: Pershore II 3 (Mark Passmore 2, Graham Hanley), Redditch III 3.
