A MAN who died in a road accident in Bewdley at the weekend has been identified as James Crumpton.
Mr Crumpton,aged 36, of Manor Close, Stourport - on - Severn, was a passenger in a white Ford Transit 350 van which left the B4194 Bewdley to Stourport road, known locally as the Switchback, shortly after 7pm on Sunday.
The driver, a 29-year-old man from Bewdley, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
Police want to hear from anyone using the stretch of road between 6.30pm and 7.05pm, in particular anyone who saw the van, or a red or maroon car travelling towards Stourport at the time.
A small red car was found abandoned in the Vale Road car park in Stourport on Monday morning and police believe this was involved in the collision. Officers are appealing for the driver to come forward, and anyone who saw it being left at the car park.
A post mortem was due to be opened and adjourned yesterday.
