A WORCESTER woman is limbering up ready to join in the biggest half-marathon in the world to raise £1,000 for St Richard's Hospice.
Npower worker Heidi Martin will take part in the Great North Run on Sunday alongside around 50,000 people, starting in Newcastle and finishing 13.1 miles later in South Shields.
This is the second time the 28-year-old will have taken part in the event and she also completed the London marathon earlier this year.
"My mum, Ruby, is a volunteer in the St Richard's Hospice shop in Pershore so
I know all about how hard everyone works to raise funds to keep the hospice helping patients and their families," said Heidi.
"I wanted to do something to help a very worthwhile cause within the local community, " she added.
Training sessions of up to 11 mile runs are ensuring Heidi will be fit and in tip-top shape for the event.
St Richard's Hospice is currently based at Rose Hill, off London Road, Worcester.
Building work has recently started on the new hospice near County Hall, Worcester, and campaigners are now working to raise the remaining £400,000 of the £5.25m needed to complete the Building Beds Together campaign.
