Fairfield Villa 1, Littleton 0
NOT for the first time this season Littleton dominated a game and yet came away with nothing.
Against a Fairfield side that was still unbeaten, the visitors were thwarted by a combination of good goalkeeping, resolute defending, over anxious shooting and sheer bad luck!
The opening half was a turgid affair with Littleton's front two of Staley and Wright, well supported by Steventon and Hawley, creating openings as they stretched a far from mobile home defence.
However, the only goal came at the other end following a close-range header three minutes before half-time.
This stung Littleton into action and for most of the second half the home penalty area resembled the Alamo as the visitors launched wave after wave of attack.
Staley's persistence a minute after the restart took him through two tackles but his shot was hacked off the line to Hawley whose follow-up went wide.
The latter then broke down the right and his cross was met with a clever flick from Wright but the ball struck a post.
This was quickly followed by a chip from Brain that flew just past the unguarded goal and a volley from Harris from a Beddoes corner saw man of the match Inman in the home goal produce a stunning save.
Wright broke down the right in the final minute and pulled the ball back which left the home defence on the wrong foot but it bobbled and evaded the two Littleton players who had taken up excellent positions.
Littleton will be hoping for better luck in the opposition penalty area when they play host to Knowle on Saturday (2.45pm).
