ALVECHURCH are looking for a new manager after boss Peter Frain resigned at the weekend.
Pressure had been mounting following the club's FA Cup exit and a disappointing start to the new Harvey World Travel Midland Alliance season.
But Saturday's 4-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Loughborough Dynamo was the final straw, with Frain resigning from the post before a pre-planned board meeting two days later.
"The pressure has been on for the last three or four games so the writing was certainly on the wall," Frain explained.
"That pressure has spilled over into the team and that was evident on Saturday when our performance was disgraceful, particularly in the first half.
"I told the players at half-time that they had left me with no alternative but to resign at the end of th e game.
"It is a shame because we had worked hard over the past 18 months - but that's football for you."
Church have lost four of their last five games and lie 16th in the table. They head to Gedling Town in the FA Vase on Saturday when the club's football director Colin Strong will take charge alongside player Brett Fitzpatrick.
Frain added: "I want to get back into football as quickly as possible but there aren't many jobs available so early in the season."
Frain's assistant Paul Busst has also left the Lye Meadow side.
Club chairman Peter Eacock paid tribute to Frain but added the results had not helped the former manager.
"He is a great bloke and has been good for Alvechurch FC over the last 18 months," he said.
"We began the season with aims of being in the top three. That looks unlikely now with a quarter of the games gone but there is still a chance - that is why we needed to act.
