Kington 241-9 Droitwich 230-9
Droitwich grabbed a winning draw
DROITWICH ended a testing season in the Worcestershire League Division One by sealing fifth place on Saturday by grabbing a draw.
The result propelled Droitwich, who had been fighting a relegation battle for most of the season, into the top half of the table.
Michael Rogers had given Droitwich an early breakthrough when he had dismissed Tom Brierly for one run.
However, Ben Stebbings (54) and Dave Exall (38) launched Kington's fight back.
Rogers though dismissed Stebbings, while Cartwright had Exall caught by captain Steve Walsh.
When Damon Gariff dismissed Sam Williams (25), Kington's last threat with the bat was removed as they fell to 241.
After a spell of rain Droitwich's target was reduced to 227 for a draw in 47 overs. However, Exhall caught Gary Cartwright (3) early on.
But Ian Cottrill (27) and Gariff (66) kept Droitwich in the hunt, before they were removed.
Australian Josh Staines was dismissed for five runs by Owen Price, but Paul Bryan's belligerent 48 runs off 56 balls kept Droitwich on target for a draw.
Walsh and Richard Ferley both hit 16 runs each and Rogers made 11 as Droitwich ended a difficult season on a high note.
