BROMSGROVE started their season with a hard fought victory away at Burton on Saturday.
Burton opened the scoring with a penalty, but Thomas made it level with an accurate kick.
Captain Upton set up the Boars' first try when he won the ball with a crunching tackle. He set Spalding free to make it 8-3 to Bromsgrove.
The Boars were pulled back through a second Burton penalty just before half time to make it 8-6.
Bromsgrove were trailing by three points after a Burton try at the start of the second half, but Spalding touched down for an effort converted by Thomas.
l Bromsgrove under-16s beat Warley 80-3 in a training match. Training for the team is at Finstall Park on Wednesdays from 6.45pm.
