n THE approaching bicentenary of Trafalgar reminds me of a story that following one of his battles, a defeated French Admiral was brought before Lord Nelson and asked "Why do the English always win the sea battles ?" Nelson replied "Before we go into battle we pray to God for a victory."
The French Admiral said "We also pray to God for a victory, but we lose."
"Ah yes," said Nelson, "But we pray in English."
