DROITWICH resident Ashley Giles wrote himself into the cricketing history books on Monday as England won back The Ashes from Australia for the first time in 18 years.
The Warwickshire spin bowler scored 59 - his highest ever score in Test cricket - to help lead England to victory over the old enemy.
Giles featured in a match-winning partnership of 109 at The Oval with fellow hero Kevin Pietersen, who smashed 158 - also his Test best score.
A jubilant Giles told Sky Sports News: "At the moment it feels like the end of another game.
"But winning the Ashes after 18 years is something special."
