TWO of Droitwich Spa's parish churches have been identified as tourist attractions in the town.
The grade II listed buildings have qualified for brown tourist signs to help people find their way to them.
One sign has been erected in The Holloway directing visitors to St Peter's and another will appear in Bromsgrove Road to help people looking for St Augustine's.
But St Andrew's, although a grade I listed building, cannot have a sign as it has no public parking facilities near to the actual building and this is one of the requirements for installing signs.
Rev Canon Sheila Banyard, vicar at St Peter's, said: "We wanted people to use the churches as much as possible.
"People do want to visit them to simply enjoy looking at them, as they are lovely historical buildings, but also attend occasions such as weddings or have someone where they can be alone and peaceful.
"Some of our churches are not easy to find and we wanted to make them as accessible as possible."
Wychavon District Council was approached over the brown tourist signs and now one has gone up for St Peter's and two are due to be installed directing visitors to St Augustine's
Rev Canon Banyard added: "We were very lucky as, because the signs were for historic buildings, Wychavon paid for them.
"These signs will be a great help to anyone who is visiting these churches."
