A TOWN plan for Droitwich Spa is set to be drawn up with residents and workers having their say on shaping the future of the area.
A special meeting is being held on Thursday, September 22 at the community hall, in Heritage Way, at 7pm for everyone interested in forming a steering group to push the plan forward.
The town plan is community led and is a statement of how it sees itself developing over the next few years.
It will reflect the views of all sections of the community as well as identifying features and local characteristics people value. It will also set out a vision of how people want their community to develop in the future.
Town mayor Cllr Richard Morris (Con - Droit South East) said: "I am so excited that we are looking to get a town plan off the ground. I believe it is really important for Droitwich Spa as it will outline how we see our town in the future rather than the town being developed in a piecemeal fashion.
"I hope that people in all areas of the community, whatever their views, get involved as its our opportunity to be proactive, to protect our heritage and ensure we have the infrastructure and amenities to support our population."
But Cllr Morris said at the first meeting people would hear from speakers on what town plans are, their uses and experiences of formulating similar plans in other towns.
A steering group will then be formed at the end of the meeting to carry the plan forward.
He added: "We want people to come along who want to get involved in helping get this plan underway as it will be run and led by the community.
"Once this has been formed then residents will be asked for their views on the future of the Spa."
Anyone who wishes to attend the meeting should contact town clerk Diane Malley on 01905 774258.
