THE Prudden Road Surfacing League's Junior Cup Final featured defending champions Inkberrow and Shipston and was played in front of a a considerable number of spectators at Stratford.
Unlike the earlier one-set Pool matches, the final was a best of three-set match and Inkberrow's Ricky Allan and Chris Smith opened in determined fashion and dominated the net.
However, Andrew Moss and Ben Lane had learned well from their 2004 experience and countered this tactic by lobbing the net players and dictating the pace of play as they came from 4-2 down to take the first set 6-4.
The Shipston pair then slowed the play to suit their style and totally dominated the first five games to race into a 5-0 lead.
Inkberrow stopped the rot to win the sixth game, but only delayed the inevitable as Shipston ran out worthy 6-1 winners.
The winners, who also received tickets for next year's DFC Classic in Birmingham, were presented with the cup by the sponsors' representative Stan Woltynski, while individual medals were presented by the Warwickshire LTA and league chairman, Tony Eskew.
