THE first meeting back after the summer break saw members drinking a toast to 90 years of the NFWI. Also celebrated was news of a grant from the National Lottery towards members attending a course at Denman College.
Before the main business president Ann Thurrell and secretary Doreen Springer read out some household tips together with alternative quips. Very useful and amusing at the same time.
The certificate for finalist in the skittles competition had arrived and will be framed once it has been signed by all that took part in any matches. Members had enjoyed two walks in August and one is planned for September 15.
The Luncheon Club will meet at Redditch College.
Speaker Mel Mills talked bout his life as a grandson of a gypsy.
He talked about the Romany language and explained many of the customs and traditions.
Even today many Romany men are very chauvinistic and women must respect their places.
The talk was received with much laughter and it is intended to invite Mr Mills to speak again in the near future.
The next meeting on October 6 will be a members' meeting.
