IN response to the views of Messrs Webb, Spencer, Chance & Co, I will just say that if the likes of Worcester Porcelain and Rover Cars cannot persuade the British public to buy their goods, how can we expect these companies to sell their goods abroad?
Just look at the predominantly foreign-made cars on our roads and the plethora of foreign crockery in our shops and homes.
So the EU is not a perfect institution, but then show me a perfect institution and I will show you a liar. During the post-war years, Britain fought tooth-and-nail to be admitted into the European Common Market. Then no sooner Britain was allowed to become a member, in 1975 a referendum was held to decide whether we should remain members of the common market or not. For Britain to quit her EU membership now, it would be like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.
L SPITERI,
Worcester.
