GREEN-fingered children at a Worcester school have been growing fruit and vegetables to raise money for charity.
Year six pupils at St George's Catholic Primary School in Thorneloe Walk, Barbourne, grew marrows, onions, courgettes, potatoes, beans and apples.
The 10 and 11-year-olds held a special harvest festival mass on Friday, before selling the produce to their parents. The proceeds of £30 have been sent to the charity CAFOD.
The headteacher at the school, Joseph Baker, said: "We are doing various things to improve the school grounds and one of the biggest is to grow our own fruit and vegetables.
"We have been doing this for a few years now, but this year was the first time we have had a full harvest.
"The children have taken a great deal of pride in the project and have even set up their own gardening club they are so enthusiastic."
