SUMMER sales have raised funds for a six-year-old girl, whose arms and legs were amputated after she was the victim of meningitis.
Joyce Lawrence, from Worcester was heartbroken when she saw the plight of Olivia Clarke on the national news earlier in the year. The 65-year-old, who organises charity sales in her front garden in Claines, has since raised more than £1,500 for the girl, from Cannock.
She said. "I've always done charity work so I went round the house and found things we didn't really want and went to car boot sales and found things that I could make a profit on.
"She's got her whole life in front of her and we want to give her the best we can." The proceeds of the events are sent to Olivia's family to buy equipment. Joyce aims to hold weekly sales on Saturdays at 18 St Michaels Road between 10am and 4pm.
