NEGOTIATIONS were due to begin today in Herefordshire after the Liberal Democrats lost control of the authority - and saw two of their six "cabinet" members voted out.
June Pickering, the cabinet member for education, and Roland Summers, who was in charge of overseeing economic development, were among the losers last night.
The Liberal Democrats lost nine seats, but remain the largest single party, with 21 seats to the Conservatives' 20.
Either side could broker a deal with the 14-strong Independents to take control of the authority.
Labour doubled its seats to four, and the Greens took one seat.
