Peter Luff had a spring in his step in the Commons this week.
The Mid-Worcestershire Tory MP and former chairman of the Agriculture Select Committee had received a double whammy of praise.
The Economist carried a piece on the decline of Parliament as talented MPs were given jobs by their parties.
It described Mr Luff as an "effective select committee chairman lured away by the offer of a junior frontbench job".
The agriculture committee also published a special report on its work during 1998-99.
"Peter Luff did an excellent job in steering us through such a busy programme with skill and dedication," it said.
