BERKELEY Boys, reigning Division A champions of the Worcester Aerial Services St.John's Sunday Lunchtime Skittles League, remain second following their narrow five-pin triumph over the Maybees at the Mayflower.

On the first leg the Maybees were indebted to P.Wyatt and A.Stanley whose 14 and 10 spares respectively helped their team to a total of 57, in reply the Berkeley went one-pin better thanks mainly to S.Skates 12 spare. They followed that with a disappointing tally of 47 to which the home side with the help of D.Spiers 14 and P.Wyatt's 13 they powered to a superb 60. The Berkeley soon got back on to the right tracks taking the next two legs to open up a slender 2-pin lead.

The home side ended the contest with a fine 52 to leave the Berkeley requiring 51, and it came right down to the wire when their anchorman K.Ingram still needed 8 to win, he showed his class by flooring 12.

The Tornadoes moved back into contention for honours following their decisive 31 pin win over the Moaners. Tornadoes began the game by taking the first leg by 7, but the Moaners hit back straight away snatching the second leg by 3 pins.

However the Moaners success was short lived, and the home side easily took the remaining 3 legs to power their way to an important victory keeping themselves a point behind second.

Newly promoted Colonels 7 still lead the way at the top of the table thanks to their 25 pin success over bottom placed Rhos Colm, who look almost certain to drop back into the lower division after just one season. Replying to the Colonels sides' first leg of 46, Rhos Colm also managing to score 46 thus nullifying what might turn out to be an all important leg point. The next three legs went the way of the Colonels team enabling them to open up a 26 pin lead and when they ended with a good 53 final leg it left their opponents a near impossible target of 80 to win, to their credit they gave it their best shot achieving 54 to take the last leg point.

Things are really hotting up in the B Division and the Oddballs short reign in the number one spot was short lived following their narrow 4-pin defeat at the hands of the Mayflower at the Bell Inn.
