IT WOULD be churlish to say we should have finished Leeds off early on Sunday. They are a very good side and their lives depended on winning.

On the day we were comfortably the better team -- the commitment and some of the quality play pleased me.

Our first half performance meant there was only one team in it and it was built on excellent forward play.

The clever interpassing for the two tries was worth the entrance fee alone.

We mustn't forget that Leeds have been at this game far longer than ourselves and, historically, have played at a higher level.

We can get better but a league scenario is a long and drawn out process we don't want to be firing on all cylinders too early.

If we can win like we did on Sunday without playing to our full potential then it all bodes well for our entire campaign.

I was particularly impressed by our second team who beat Leeds 47-0 after the first team game.

They are playing quality rugby and players are showing the commitment to come through the ranks of our teams. They were led to victory by Ed Orgee's excellent captaincy.

Now we travel to Waterloo, a club with a huge history who are being coached well by Tony Russ a former director of rugby at Leicester.

It will be difficult for us and they have had some good results over the past three years, never mind three months, so it's a potential banana skin.

But I'm pleased with our away form and, since the disappointment suffered with defeat at Rosslyn Park last year, we've been unbeaten in our league travels.

Our desire to try new things saw a samba band at Sixways last Sunday and I thought it added atmosphere.

There were some conflicting opinions and we can't please everyone but things like that are all part of high profile sporting events such as internationals at Twickenham.

It was nice to see the ladies very lively on Sunday afternoon after their first league win but I don't know why so many of them are blondes.

The ground staff have also done an excellent job and the condition of the pitch after Sunday's three games is a credit to them.

Our crowd of 4,000 also puts us among the best supported clubs in the land and I look forward to seeing them travelling up the M6 to Waterloo on Saturday.
