VILLAGE guides scoured their homes for old clothes to take part in a scarecrow project.
Members of the 1st Cookley Guides, aged 10 to 14, decorated the village with a dozen scarecrows stuffed with straw. The "midsummer madness" event marked the millennium.
Guide Guider Amanda Brighton said: "The girls had a lot of fun designing their creations.
"They put a scarecrow with a bandage outside the doctor's surgery, a lady with a mini skirt and a mobile phone outside the pub and a supporter of the Harriers outside the village butcher's shop."
