FOLLOWING Saturday's heavy defeat by Worcester City, Evesham United turned in a much improved performance before going down 2-0 to Hereford United in last night's pre-season friendly at Common Road.
The Bulls took the lead on six minutes when Paul Fewings' corner was powerfully headed home by Ian Wright.
Evesham responded when former Hereford winger Phil Preedy struck his drive just wide.
Wright had a header well saved by Melvyn Watson in the Evesham goal and, at the other end, Jason Percival went close as play switched from end to end.
On 67 minutes, Hereford went 2-0 up. Robin Elms found former Halesowen Town hot-shot Steve Piearce who raced clear of the Evesham defence and coolly took the ball past the advancing Watson.
Piearce turned provider moments later as Hereford went looking for a third, but Elms headed wide.
