Wolverhampton lost to Astwood Bank 1sts
by 13 runs
ASTWOOD Bank won the toss and batted first with S Jagielski and S Churchley giving a steady start.
The innings gained most momentum with the partnership of A Clayton, 28, and the hard-hitting A Alexander, 63. A late flourish from P Daws helped see Bank post a competitive 200 for the loss of six wickets.
The Birmingham League opponents' reply began in similar fashion with S Clarke and S Churchley bowling well with good back-up from the fielders. R Bradford and G Kohli looked to have given Wolves the match until a fabulous run out from S Jagielski removed the opener.
The belated introduction of captain A Clayton 3-11 and the swing bowling of D Jones 2-16 then turned the game on its head, leaving the pace of S Clarke to finish the game.
A famous victory was completed over illustrious opponents, a great game played in good spirit.
Feckenham 2nds v Bretforton
BATTING first, Feckenham openers Phil Taskey and Andy Simpson took their partnership to 40 without any problems.
The introduction of Barber's leg spin turned the innings around as he took 6-18 and Feckenham collapsed at 72ao. Greg Griffiths was the only successful bowler as Bretforton cruised to their victory target.
Redditch 1sts beat Pershore 1sts by 5 runs
REDDITCH defeated Pershore in a high scoring and exciting match.
Batting first, Redditch totalled 241-5 off their 45 overs with Paul West making 83no off 53 balls and Brian Powell, 62, sharing a superb partnership. There was useful support from Luke Wells, 29, and John Lostitch, 23.
In reply after a poor start Steve Cooper, 100, with support from Coetsee, 41 and Prudden, 23, ensuring a brave effort - finishing just five runs short of the Redditch total.
Pershore 2nds beat Redditch 2nds by 7 wickets
REDDITCH, taking first innings, made a bright start by Dan Young, 15, the innings was pegged back by some steady Pershore bowling, but with Ian Phelan, 44, Axel 34 and 18 from Ashley Freeman, Redditch totalled 173-9 off their 45 overs.
In reply, Pershore made an excellent start with an opening partnership of 68 and with Hodgson making 92no saw the home team to win by seven wickets. Steve Rose and Dan Young took a wicket apiece.
Hewell Cricket Club
Hewell came back to earth with a bump. Batting first at Hockley Heath, Hewell plummeted to the depths of 10-4. A recovery was led by the reliable John Blackburn, 44no, aided by Nigel Barlow, 20, Malcolm Jones, 27 and Nigel Boswell, 19. Hockley Heath had little difficulty in chasing the modest target and won comfortably by seven wickets.
