BROMSGROVE Rovers' future rem-ains in doubt despite their lucrative friendlies against Aston Villa and Wolves.

The club reckons to have made around £5,000 from the two games, which will go towards paying off a pressing £18,000 debt to the Inland Revenue.

Rovers are now in talks with other top Midlands clubs such as Birmingham, West Bromwich Albion and Walsall about arranging more friendlies to help cover the rest.

Chief executive Pat Bannister said: "If we can get these other friendlies it will pay their bill off and give us a chance of talking to other potential investors."

Bannister plans to meet with five people who are interested in coming on to the board over the next week.

Several supporters have also pledged donations, and fans will get a chance to have their say on the club's future at a forum in the Victoria Club next Tuesday (February 15), starting at 7.30pm.

Rovers are without a league game for the second successive weekend, but have fixed up a friendly at Interlink Express Midland Alliance side Bridgnorth Town (3.00).

Former Telford and Wycombe striker Tim Langford, who had a brief spell with Rovers last season, has rejoined the club from Halesowen Harriers and is expected to turn out tomorrow.

Manager Steve Daley is also poised to complete the signing of Ledbury Town striker Robbie Colwell.

n Redditch United's fine form has earned boss Rob Smith the Western Division Manager of the Month award for January.

But Smith says the players should take most of the credit for his award, after taking Reds up to fourth place in the table.

He said: "Everybody has put in a lot of work leading up to Christmas, and we are reaping the benefits of it now."

Reds have no game tomorrow but are gearing up for a titanic home clash with leaders Stafford Rangers next Saturday. Smith added: "We have got ourselves in the frame now, and three points next week will certainly close things up."
