TWO Worcester City players have been rewarded for their form with places in a Dr Martens League representative squad.
Midfielder Ian Cottrill and goalkeeper Shane Higgs are in a 16-man squad selected by City boss George Rooney for the clash with an FA XI at Bath City's Twerton Park ground on Tuesday, December 8.
Cottrill, City's longest-serving player -- he made his 300th appearance for the club in Saturday's FA Umbro Trophy tie at Fisher Athletic -- is rewarded for some tigerish displays in midfield.
Higgs, meanwhile, has overcome a shaky start to his City career with a couple of outstanding displays in recent weeks -- most notably at Fisher on Saturday.
Rooney, who will be assisted by Atherstone United boss Ron Bradbury, also managed the Dr Martens League side in the same fixture last year, which was played at Gloucester.
The full Dr Martens League squad is: Ian Cottrill, Shane Higgs (Worcester), Dean Bennett (Bromsgrove), Mark Albrighton, Richard Barratt (Atherstone), Kevin Braybrook, Adrian Randall (both Salisbury), Chris Burns (Gloucester), Graham Colbourne, Garry Wotton (both Bath), Ryan Cross (Dorchester), Richard Gardner, Barry Williams (both Nuneaton), Danny McDonnell (Halesowen), Lee McRob-ert (Hastings), Ian Robinson (Ilkeston).
The FA squad includes Kidderminster Harriers trio Mark Yates, Craig Hinton and Stuart Brock, while Hereford United are represented by Ian Wright and Gavin Williams.
City face a hectic period after being landed with two midweek games next week.
They entertain Crawley Town in the Dr Martens League Premier Division on Saturday -- their first home league game for NINE weeks because of Cup commitments.
On Monday Second Division high-flyers Walsall visit St George's Lane for an attractive Birmingham Senior Cup second round tie.
Next Wednesday City go to Bilston Town for their Dr Martens Cup first round, second leg tie, postponed from last night because of City's Trophy replay with Fisher. The first leg ended 1-1.
City's reserves are in Central Conference action at Hereford United tonight (7.30).
