KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Jan Molby is to meet chairman Lionel Newton to thrash out a budget for players for next season's campaign in the Third Division.

The former Liverpool ace has also revealed he has a number of targets in mind to strengthen the squad for his side's first taste of Football League action.

He said: "One of the things that's important is the playing budget that we need to be competitive in the Third Division.

"I've told the chairman what it is going to take to just upgrade the squad we have got at the moment. I'd also like some money to bring in new players because we are going to lose one or two.

"I think we need to go out and be able to spend just to be competitive next season in the Third Division.

"It's now up to the chairman and his board to try to come back and at least give us a competitive budget.

"To up-grade to full time is possible, it's just whether we have got a little bit left to bring in a few more players."

Molby admits he has agreed a number of points on his new contract offer, but added: "Whether it is going to be four years I'm not too sure. Nothing has been signed as yet but I think the playing budget is as important as anything else."

Regarding possible new signings, he said: "I've got a few people I'd like to bring in who I think would improve our squad. They are the right age and there might be one or two we have to pay for.

"I know what the budgets are in some of the other Third Division clubs and we need to be there alongside them. We don't need to have the best or the lowest as long as we are competitive."
