A WOMAN was pushed to the ground after a man tried to grab her bag as she walked along a Worcester road.

She was walking past the public toilets on Droitwich Road when the man approached her and told her to give him her bag.

He then tried to grab the rucksack, which was on her back, but the victim kicked him in the leg.

Her attacker then pushed the woman to the ground and she suffered cuts and bruises to her hands and knees. He ran off without the bag, across Droitwich Road, towards Checketts Lane.

He is described as white, in his early 20s, 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in tall, clean-shaven, with fair skin and very dark, almost black hair.

He was wearing a dark, short-sleeve T-shirt, slightly faded stonewashed jeans and white trainers, which had a blue sign on the side. He also had a strong Worcester accent.

"There's a strong chance that people travelling to work along the road might have seen the offender prior to, during or after the incident," said PC Chris Hunter, of Worcester police.

"I would ask anyone with information relating to the incident or the offender to contact police on 01905 72388 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 should you wish to remain anonymous."
