ROSE SHOW: To say the least the weather conditions faced by the members of the Inkberrow and District Horticultural Society in the run up to their Rose Show, which was held at the village hall last weekend, could be described as challenging. The intense heat of the previous weekend being followed by cold windy weather during the week took its toll on the blooms suitable for showing and this was reflected in the lower number of exhibits. Coupled with this the villagers have found their energies well and truly spread this year as the Millennium Festival Day also fell on this weekend. However judge Mr Elwyn Jones of Droitwich, was very complimentary in his summing up of the show praising the quality of the exhibits produced under such difficult circumstances. Chairman of the society, Pat Atkin, thanked everyone who had helped with the show and encouraged them to support the plant stall which would be in the millennium marquee the next day, promising a large variety of quality plants for sale. The Mary Hewlett Challenge Cup for most points gained in rose classes was won by John Tromans who also gained most points in the show, and the cup for the runner up was won by Pat Atkin with Joyce Richardson in third place.
