OFFICER of the day, R Little, set a shortened course to take advantage of what wind there was.
A reduced fleet set sail due to the busy topper open the previous day, which was won by R Peacock, who took to the water with the wind dying off. Some boats had to illegally paddle to the start.
No advantage was taken by the early starters except for M Squirrel in his Comet, who took an early lead never to be lost, with G Croydon and G Ranford in second and B Grubb third.
The second race had a change of course and with very little wind the boats started a very arduous 60 minutes. Concentration and a little luck was the order of the second race and those able to keep cool and calm were able to keep their boats going.
It was a very tactical, if not exciting race which saw J Beard take line honours from G Croydon and G Ranford in second place once again and M Squirrel rounding off the top three.
