REDDITCH UNITED (1) 3

Bedworth United (0) 0

PAUL Danks took his goal tally to six in three games with a stunning hat-trick on Saturday.

But it was the overall performance of the team which stood out, as the Reds comprehensively extended their unbeaten run to four games.

It is just a pity it was in front of the Valley Stadium's lowest league crowd of the season.

As early as the third minute Redditch could have taken the lead through Micky Moore but he was denied by a superb saving tackle from Jamie Richardson when clean through.

Despite an effort from Bedworth's Chris Goodman just whistling past Dave Adey's goal it was Redditch who controlled the game and looked the more likely side to score.

Left back Dominic Reece went close on 13 minutes with a well placed volley from the edge of the box which had Craig Glover at full stretch in the Greenbacks' goal.

The chance owed a lot to the quick-thinking of Ian Bennett, who again was instrumental when Reds opened the scoring in the 34th minute.

It was his short pass to Danks, level with the Bedworth penalty area, which allowed the striker to cut inside before firing a low shot into the corner of the goal giving Glover no chance.

Danks doubled his, and Redditch's, tally four minutes after the break when he was put through by Bennett. It should have been Glover's ball but the keeper totally missed it allowing Danks to tap it in.

The two-goal cushion was maintained by Adey who pulled of an excellent finger-tip save from Robbie Beard, who was allowed to cut through the defence and shoot from eight-yards.

Substitute Nicky Cross should have further added to Bedworth's woe when Danks pulled the ball back from the byline but Cross injured his knee as he shot, forcing him to drag the ball wide.

But Redditch were not to be denied a third and Danks repeated his stunning strike against Cirencester two weeks earlier when he unleashed a powerful right foot shot which left the keeper grasping at thin air.

The goal owed much to the fine work of Krystof Kotylo, who was playing in the final game of his loan spell from Nuneaton.
