REDDITCH UNITED 1
Sutton Coldfield Town 3
Redditch slumped out of the Birmingham Senior Cup after being brushed aside by the visitors.
The result was rarely in doubt after Craig Dutton and Duncan Ferguson had given Sutton a two-goal advantage inside the opening 25 minutes.
Willie Batchelor, who had set-up the Royals' opener, was splendid in defence as it took Redditch 65 minutes before Craig Love forced a save from Sutton keeper Mark Hart with a well-struck 25-yard effort.
But hopes of a home revival lay in tatters just five minutes later when Ferguson's determined run ended with a splendid pass to Matthew Moran who slotted past keeper Dave Adey from eight yards.
Ferguson could have added a fourth, rounding the keeping only to miss the target with his shot, before substitute James Burke grabbed a consolation for Redditch four minutes from the end.
Redditch: Adey, Knight (Burke 55), Love, Randall, Manton, Dearlove, Field, Nicholls, Cross, Hart, Williams. Unused substitutes: Moore, Shields.
Man of the match: Manton.
