A MIGHTY £1,090 has been raised by disabled people to keep Shopmobility flourishing.
Members of Evesham Vale Access held a fete last Saturday on the top of the Riverside shopping centre under glorious sunshine.
EVA chairman Jenny Perkins, whose committee runs Shopmobility said: "We were very pleased - it was a lovely day. We also held a street collection which raised £720 and all the money will go to Shopmobility."
Mrs Perkins said that since the scheme was launched in January, 750 people have borrowed wheelchairs to get around town, with 135 registered members.
In July members were devastated when they were refused a grant towards running costs by Wychavon District Council.
Mrs Perkins, who has lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis, said: "We have fund-raising plans in hand. Shopmobility will close over my dead body!"
