August 18, 1900
Chipping Norton: WALTER Widdows, an engine cleaner from Chipping Norton Junction, was charged with stealing a tin of biscuits and a quantity of other articles, the property of Great Western Railways on August 11. Detective Kellaway, employed by GWR, gave evidence and the prisoner was remanded until August 22.

Moreton: MORETON-in-Marsh Cricket Club opened their new pavilion on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a few spectators and those interested in the game. The ceremony had been postponed a week due to bad weather. The Rev S W B Holbrooke, an enthusiastic cricketer and oldest member of Moreton Cricket Club, opened the pavilion, in place of Mrs Brooks, who was unable to attend.

Moreton: MORETON-in-Marsh Parish Council have decided to include a merry-go-round and 30ft chute in their scheme to develop a children's playground in the Victoria Gardens. On Tuesday night, Mr G C G Clifton stated that the Parks and Amenities Committee recommended the purchase of a seesaw, merry-go-round and chute for the gardens, besides the sandpit, which has already been agreed upon. The total cost was expected to be £169.

Moreton: A SPACIOUS new kitchen has been provided by Gloucestershire County Council and the Cotswold District Council for the "Meals on Wheels" team which despatches hot and cold meals all over the North Cotswolds each Tuesday and Thursday. The kitchen is in the former North Cotswold RDC offices in High Street, Moreton-in-Marsh, and has been converted from the former building control offices. The new equipment includes a deep freeze.
