KENNELS in Bewdley are to be extended despite fears from neighbours over increased barking.

Wyre Forest District Council approved a bid to put up two new buildings for an additional eight cat pens and 10 dog kennels at Bewdley Boarding Kennels in Ribbesford at its planning (development control) committee meeting on Tuesday.

But five letters were received from neighbours who felt the plans represented "gross over-intensification of the site" and were worried about more "incessant barking" as a result in the number of dogs.

Planning officer Quita Morgan said the increase in noise from 38 rather than 28 dogs would "not make a significant difference".
