OVERBURY'S second team returned to winning ways after a convincing show at Ashton.

The hosts elected to bat first in Saturday's Division Three clash and they rattled up 50 off the opening 14 overs as Dom Capaldi and Lindsay Barnett vindicated the decision.

However, once Capaldi was bowled round his legs by Tim Baldwin, wickets tumbled regularly with only his opening partner holding the innings together.

Barnett was last man out for a superb 70 an effort that boosted Ashton's total to 150.

Overbury's reply was a slow one and, with 32 scored off 13 overs, Rod Gillet was dismissed.

Opening partner Mark Goodall soon retired hurt but Steve Pattenden and Phil Warner weren't to be parted in a century unbroken stand that steered Overbury to victory.

Harvington batted for just 37 overs in their Division One game at Stratford but still managed to rattle up an impressive score of 215 mainly thanks to 79 from Mark Barnard.

The home side were left 52 overs to reach their target and they got off to a good start after the early loss of Cunningham.

Cross, Sagar and Glover appeared to have given Stratford a winning reply but Harvington's bowlers hit back and the innings subsided to 208-8.
