PERSHORE'S recent run of poor form continued when they visited Kington in a Worcester-shire County League game on Saturday and turned in another below par batting performance.
Skipper Trevor Ridings won the toss and invited Kington to bat on a good looking batting wicket. Phil Oxley soon made inroads into the home side's top order with only Australian Craig Millman showing any resistance.
When Millman was dismissed for a patient 51 with the Kington score at 89-6, the visitors were hopeful of chasing a reasonable target.
The hosts were eventually dismissed for 146 with only Symonds (32) showing the application needed against a tiring Pershore attack, in which Oxley was the pick with figures of 5-48.
The visitors started in positive fashion reaching 30 without loss but a middle order collapse which included two unfortunate run outs, saw them reeling at 59-7.
Opener Stephen Cooper held firm and, in the later stages, it looked as if he could force an unlikely draw. He received little support against an accurate attack, and was eventually last man out for 56 in a disappointing total of 100.
Evesham slumped to the foot of the table after losing to leaders Redditch by six wickets. A similar margin of victory for Belbroughton leaves Evesham at the bottom, so they should feel at home at Pershore on Saturday!
